Why you are receiving this notice
From 1 May 2026, the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 requires organisations to notify individuals when personal information about them is collected from a source other than the individual themselves (Information Privacy Principle 3A).
If you are viewing this notice, it is because FlatMatchr NZ has collected some personal information about you indirectly for example, a user mentioned your name, contact details, or other identifying information while creating a listing, profile, or message on our platform.
What information may have been collected
The types of personal information that may be collected indirectly on FlatMatchr NZ include:
- Your name or display name, as mentioned by another user in a listing or message
- Contact details (such as a phone number or email address) shared by another user
- Photos or images that feature you, uploaded by another user
- References to your living preferences, lifestyle, or other personal characteristics as described by another user
Why we hold this information
FlatMatchr NZ is a platform that connects people looking for rental accommodation with people looking for flatmates. Users sometimes include details about current or prospective flatmates when creating listings or profiles. We hold this information solely as part of the content submitted by other users, for the purposes of operating the flatmate-matching service.
We do not use indirectly collected personal information for any purpose beyond what is reasonably necessary for operating the platform.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you you may request a copy at any time
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading
- Request deletion of personal information about you that was submitted by another user, where that information is not required to be retained for legal purposes
- Object to the continued holding of your personal information in certain circumstances

We will acknowledge your request within 5 working days and respond within 20 working days as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
